FABLS

A LinkedIn Page, made from your profile.

Six steps to a company Page: it is created from a person's profile, then given a logo, a cover, an About text and a custom button.

Before you start

Three things,
ready first.

  • A LinkedIn profileA Page is created by a member, from their own profile.
  • A name and a web addressThe company name, and the address of its website. LinkedIn also asks for the industry and the size.
  • A logo and a coverA square logo and a wide cover picture; the sizes are in the table below.

The steps

Step by step,
in this order.

LinkedIn Pages and LinkedIn profiles are two different things, and FABLS posts to both. The steps below make the Page; the FABLS part, a few paragraphs down, says what to set up on the profile.

How to set up a LinkedIn Page6 steps
  • 1Sign in to your LinkedIn profileA Page is created by a member of LinkedIn, so sign in with the profile of the owner or of somebody who will stay with the business.
  • 2Create the PageOpen the Page setup, choose Company, type the name and the public address, add the website, the industry, the size and the type, and confirm that you are allowed to act for the company.
  • 3Add the logo and the coverUpload a square logo and a wide cover. The logo is shown small, so keep it simple.
  • 4Write the About text and the detailsDescribe what the company does in the first lines, which show first, and add the website, the location and the specialities.
  • 5Add the custom buttonOn the Page, choose Add button in the admin view and pick the one that fits, such as Visit website or Contact us. It appears under the Page's name.
  • 6Post the first updatePublish a post that introduces the company, so the Page does not open empty.

The numbers

Sizes and limits,
to have to hand.

The limits LinkedIn sets for a profile, and the sizes for a profile and a Page. All platforms side by side: Profile and cover sizes.

Fit your text to its limit with the free Bio writer, or copy a size from the Size cheat sheet.

With FABLS

Then connect your profile,
and your Page.

FABLS posts to a person's own LinkedIn profile, usually the owner's or the face of the business, and to the company Page. So on the profile: paste a headline of up to 220 characters and an About text into the intro and About sections, put the website address in Contact info, and add a picture and a banner (keep the words to the right of the banner, because the picture sits over its left side).

Then connect LinkedIn on Channels. FABLS posts up to 3,000 characters with a picture, an MP4 video or a PDF, kept as a LinkedIn draft or published, at the slot's time. The setup guide in the app follows these profile steps.

Plain about it: a company Page gives FABLS comments and numbers, and a personal profile gives none, so a profile has no inbox in FABLS and the report shows no numbers for it.

Questions

Quick answers.

Can FABLS post to my company Page?

Yes. FABLS posts to a company Page as well as to a personal profile.

Why make a Page at all?

A Page is the company's own place on LinkedIn, with its logo, cover and button, and it does not depend on one person's profile being active.

Does a LinkedIn profile have a button too?

No. A personal profile has no custom button; the website address in Contact info does the same job there.
